We own the lights, taking full responsibility for their condition and maintenance throughout the contract period.

Colbert WA Christmas Light Installation

Q: Can I use my own lights?

I’m sorry, but we only use our commercial-grade lights for several reasons, with the biggest being fire hazard concerns. Our LED bulbs have little to no chance of catching fire.

Q: How is your service priced?

Each job varies depending on the number of lights required. You can choose toilluminate part or all of your roofline, trees, shrubs, etc. It’s important to note that trees can be more expensive as they require a significant number of lights and are time-consuming to install.

Q: Is there a time commitment to using your service?

Yes, we offer a five-year program where we handle everything from start to finish. Which includes putting the lights up and taking them down. Storage until the following season and maintenance of burned out bulbs or blown down strands.

Q: Can I have the same lights as I had last year?

Yes, we store your design until the following year. If you wish to add more lights, that’s also an option, and we will adjust the price accordingly.

Q: Will the lights start to fade year to year?

While this was a common issue with lights used in the past, the new LED Commercial Grade lights we use will maintain their brightness for years to come.

Long frontages need a plan, not more lights

Colbert properties tend to have width — long single-storey or storey-and-a-half frontages set back on big lots. The instinct is to run lights across the whole thing, and that works, but it is worth knowing what it costs before you commit to it.

Often a better result comes from lighting the full roofline plus one strong vertical element near the road — a wrapped trunk, a lit entry — so the eye has somewhere to land. A very long horizontal line on its own reads flat from a distance.

Trees along the Little Spokane

The properties down toward the river have mature deciduous cover that changes completely between October and December. A tree that screens the house when we quote may be bare by the time the lights are up, which occasionally works in your favour and occasionally means a run we placed for cover is now fully exposed.

We plan for the winter state of the canopy rather than what we see on the day, because that is the condition the display actually lives in.

Outdoor power on a rural lot

Long frontages plus trees add up to real electrical load, and older Colbert properties do not always have the outdoor circuits to match. We work out the draw at the quote stage and lay the runs out around what the house can supply.

If the honest answer is that you need another outdoor circuit before the display you want is possible, we will say so rather than wiring something marginal and hoping.

My mind is still blown how cool of a program their service is. They do everything. No more ladder climbing or trying to untangle my lights, I just write them a check and it’s done. I’ve used them for three years and will use them for another three
